DataCamp Donates
In 2022, Laureates SIE became an official DataCamp Donates partner. In our first year, we worked with the American tech giant to offer 70 free DataCamp licences to Ebonyians and Nigerians with disabilities. We're glad to say we've remained partners with DataCamp for four years running, distributing over 400 licences in the last three years alone. In 2025, we secured an additional 200 licences for Ebonyians, Nigerians with disabilities, and health researchers in Ebonyi State.
This partnership was born from the need to ease the cost of online education for indigent Ebonyians and deserving Nigerians more broadly. We also hope it equips beneficiaries with world-class tech skills capable of competing in the global marketplace. Find out more about DataCamp Donates →

A timeline of community milestones
Free scholarship guidance group
Ebonyi Laureates runs a free scholarship guidance group where we share opportunities and resources with Ebonyians. We know education is one of the surest ways to combat poverty in Ebonyi State, yet it often costs more than the poor can afford — which is exactly why this group exists. It now has 122 members, and we've held two free scholarship webinars focused on Chevening, Commonwealth and other major scholarships.
Our maiden webinar
On 24 September 2021, we held our first-ever webinar, "Bootstrapping Social Media for Professional Development," with speakers Mr Raymond Okpani and Dr Abanni Sampson. The session was aimed at helping Ebonyians make the most of the many opportunities available through social media.
The #Ebonyi25MB movement
In October 2022, to mark Ebonyi State's 25th anniversary, we launched #Ebonyi25MB — mobilising Ebonyians to find and share online opportunities using just 25MB of data. We pointed members toward open-access platforms like freeCodeCamp, Sololearn and Harvard's CS50, and that same month launched our tech club, since renamed the STEM Club, as an incubator for budding STEM talent in Ebonyi.
Computer Science Education Week
From 6–12 December 2021, we marked Computer Science Education Week by sharing open-access resources for digital skills and launching our second and largest learning cohort — a group studying Web Development and JavaScript through Class Central, using the freeCodeCamp curriculum. Not every member finished the programme, but the lessons we learned continue to shape our current learning cohorts today.
Recognised for reliability
In 2022, during the Ebonyi Social Media for Social Good Awards, Laureates SIE was nominated for Most Content-Reliable Social Media Group/Page. We didn't win, but the nomination speaks to our impact across the state.
Free smartphone bootcamp
In 2021, we ran a free smartphone bootcamp for Ebonyians and Nigerians, since many people have access to a phone but not a laptop. The training focused on using mobile devices for economic empowerment, and over 100 people benefitted.

Through these ongoing series, we continue to share open-access STEM education and scholarship opportunities on our social media pages — using the reach of social media to widen access to learning for Ebonyians and Nigerians alike.
